Cape Cod Canal Centennial Fireworks Display

A huge and spectacular display of fireworks will be set off of barges in Buzzards Bay. They will be able to be seen for miles around Bourne, Wareham and the Onset Bay area of the canal. Also a special pyrotechnic display never done before off of the historic railroad bridge on the canal. This event is sponsored by David Mugar and B4 Productions.

Tug Boat Parade

The parade starts at Massachusetts Maritime Academy goes the full length of the canal. Turns at the Sandwich end and comes back through to Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Tugs participate on a volunteer basis but do not need to register. About a dozen boats are anticipated to attend depending on weather and tugs availability. Tug boats will be displayed as they travel along the canal.

This new exhibition at the Provincetown Museum tells the story of the historical importance of the whaling industry to the town's development and follows the evolution of the town from hunting whales to saving whales. What happens when you recreate insects on a gargantuan scale using all natural materials? You have Big Bugs.
Sculptor David Rogers creates insects such as 25-foot-long ants and dragonflies with 17-foot wingspans using combinations of whole trees, cut green saplings, dry branches, and other forest materials. The inherent uniqueness of these materials, their different shapes, colors and textures provide these sculptures with character, definition and a sense of motion.
Big Bugs at Heritage includes three ants, a dragonfly, a damselfly, an assassin bug, a praying mantis, a spider on a web, a ladybug, and a daddy longlegs.
