What is it about a successful watercolor painting that elicit a positive response in the viewer? The subject matter, the quality of light, the way in which the various planes of the painting blend together, the feeling of “freshness” and “immediacy”- these are just a few of the accomplishments in a painting that one responds to. My goal in this class is to develop the students’ understanding of technique in order to generate this same response to their own art.
