Exhibit: “The Art of the Catboat”

The Catboat was the inspiration that boatbuilder Joseph Keveney drew upon when designing three of his models, built from 1936-1942 and on loan to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum! Exhibit also features the creations of other Catboat enthusiasts - including half hull models, photography, sculpture, a sailors’ valentine and oil paintings, including this one by local artist William R. Davis.

Browse among the seven colorful shanties featuring local artists who work and sell their wares right from their "seaside studios". Artists change weekly and work varies from painting, jewelry, sculpture, glass, ceramics, mariner knot work to wood carving and much more. Participate in FREE family nature crafts and activities on Thursday afternoons in July and August! Shanties are open weekends May/June, seven days a week as of June 28th, from 11 a.m.


Tours of Highland Lighthouse

Tours seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Climb 69 steps to the top of the lighthouse and view a video depicting the history, moving and re-lighting of Highland Light. Children must be 48 inches tall to climb stairs. $4 admission.

Opening Reception June 1, 5-7PM.
The lithographs and paintings of Eugene C. Fitsch from the 1930's - 1960's and contemporary pinhole photographer Vaughn Wascovich will be highlighted.
Fitsch was a successful theater set painter, set designer and scenic artist. In many cases, his images are behind the scenes views of Broadway and Off- Broadway plays. His paintings are of local areas such as Brewster Flats and Paines Creek.
Vascovich is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M-Commerce whose work using large format paper negatives from pinhole cameras is visually engrossing.
