The inn keepers - friendly, helpful, knowledgable of the area and more than prepared
The breakfast - wonderful and professionally presented
The room - beautiful, clean and large
The location - close enough to everything without being in the middle of it - on the quiet side
This is the best inn we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in quite a few and paid much more. Debbie and Rich are excellent hosts and have thought of everything - down to reading glasses at the ready for those of us who tend to forget ours. We had beach towels, umbrellas, beach chairs, a refrigerator, ice bucket, wine glasses and a cork screw in our room. We could see the bay from our room and had binoculars to use. They provided a road atlas for the area and tons of prepared information about local activities and restaurants. You could show up without any information or plans and have everything you need handed to you upon arrival. If you need more info or recommendations, just ask. We planned to stay 2 nights and then move on, but stayed a third night instead. You can't go wrong staying here.
Great Breakfasts and an Amazing Inn

We stayed at the High Pointe in April 2010 for our honeymoon and I have to say that it was the best B&B experience we've ever had. The breakfasts prepared by Rich are so good that we found ourselves thinking about what we would have for breakfast as we fell asleep each night. Also, between Debbie and Rich they can point you to whatever it is you're looking for on the cape - regardless of whether it's down the road or several towns down the road. They know the area so well that one morning we were describing this little out of the way spot that we thought we had "discovered" and they knew exactly where we had gone and how to get back there if we wished - it was 45 minutes away on a back road. We loved our stay, the room we had was beautiful and they supplied everything - logs for the fireplace, beach chairs & beach towels to take with us to the beach, Rich and Debbie made several appointments or reservations for us each time we mentioned that we wanted to do this or that. Everything from horseback riding to massages, to dining they know who to call and where to do. If you want to have an amazing time on the cape and never have a worry a thing then you have to stay at the High Pointe. :-)

While this bed and breakfast may not be located right on the ocean, it's neatly tucked away from the beach hubbub, is only minutes from the ocean, and offers a great hilltop view of the ocean that on a clear day sees all the way out to Provincetown. Debbie and Rich are great hosts and make a fantastic breakfast for you in the mornings. We had a great time and already have plans to come back soon...

Debbie and Rich are wonderful hosts. Our every need was attended to. We could have not asked for more. In addition to their warm hospitality, they offered suggestions to enhance our visit and Rich cooks up an awesome breakfast that is delicious and varies daily. We look forward to coming back again soon.
Heavenly High Pointe Inn

Having just returned from five days at the High Pointe Inn in late December, we felt compelled to share our winter perspective of this inn. We arrived after dark on December 27th and the candles in the windows and twinkling live Christmas tree immediately made us feel at home. Innkeeper Rich Howard met us at the door and helped us with our luggage as he showed us around the inn. It is truly an exceptionally peaceful and beautiful place. The rooms are decorated in what I call "Pottery Barn" style (ummm...wonderful) and the entire inn is absolutely immaculate. Our room was the red room upstairs, which we soon began referring to as our sanctuary. It is a very spacious room with a large picture window overlooking dunes, marshes and with a view of the distant sea. Binoculars and a bird book are provided along with comfortable seating to enjoy the outdoors from the warmth of the room. Our room also had a cozy reading area, a writing nook, and a beautiful spa-like bathroom with granite counters and a vessel sink. Other in-room amenities included a refrigerator, beach chairs (we didn't need those), robes (needed those), wine glasses, dvd player, bottled water, plush towels, and even an atlas...which we took with us each day as we explored the Cape. It was so nice to know where we were returning to each evening. Rich's nightly treat of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and hot coffee were an added nice touch. And the breakfasts...we can't say enough about them. Top of the line. Delectable. Gourmet. The best ever. The High Pointe Inn is the most exceptional inn we have ever had the pleasure of frequenting. We highly recommend it and are looking forward to experiencing it from a spring, summer and fall perspective!

I highly recommend the High Pointe Inn. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The inn is beautiful both inside and out. It is exquisitely decorated, yet comfortable, and it is extemely clean. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with wild flowers and gardens. The view from the upstairs rooms is terrific, and the deck off of the downstairs rooms are comfortable is relaxing. The attention to detail throughout the inn was amazing, Rich and Debbie didn't miss a thing. Speaking of Rich and Debbie, they are fantastic innkeepers. They are gracious and hospitable; extremely accommodating; have a great sense of humor; make you feel comfortable, welcome and right at home. We loved their yellow lab, Casey, as well, having Casey around truly made the inn feel like a home. My husband and I both agree that of all the inns and B&Bs we've stayed at over the years, we both felt most comfortable at the High Pointe Inn. We will definitely visit again, and will highly recommned it to friends and family.

High Pointe Inn is an exceptional place! It offers all the comforts of home with a beautiful location on Cape Cod as well as very gracious innkeepers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely Bed and Breakfast. The accomodations were superb and the gourmet breakfasts were outstanding! The innkeepers are extremely friendly, very helpful with suggestions about the activities, beaches, and restaurants in the area, and great to talk to about a variety of interesting topics. We certainly will make it a point to return to this inn the next time we visit Cape Cod!
Attention to Detail and Wonderful Hospitality

Rich and Debbie are great Innkeepers. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality is wonderful. They are helpful with planning your trip if you ask and were spot on with all of their recommendations. The Inn is one of the nicest that I have ever stayed in through my many travels. They offer many amenities that other places do not even consider offering and their breakfasts alone are worth the stay. I have already recommended the High Pointe to others and always will. My husband and I wanted a nice place to relax before our baby (I am 34 weeks preganant) and this was the perfect place.

Rich and Debbie have the B&B concept all figured out. Welcoming and friendly, they go out of their way to make your stay a memorable one. I spent two nights at the High Pointe Inn for my "mini" honeymoon and have absolutely no regrets or complaints.
A Perfect, Relaxing Stay

We just stayed at the High Pointe Inn for three nights and it was absolutely wonderful. We stayed in the Sand Dollar room downstairs and it was perfect. The room was large and comfortable with everything you could think of including binoculars. We had a deck off our room and sat there with a drink in the afternoon and enjoyed the view of the garden and open space. Rich and Debbie were wonderful hosts and treated us so well. Our every need was taken care of including great dining suggestions and great company. We really enjoyed our breakfasts - the food and the other guests made it so much fun. It is evident why this Inn is so popular and special - Debbie and Rich are easy to be with but also seemed to sense when you just wanted some quiet time and they left us alone. We would highly recommend this Inn to anyone and especially people who enjoy a clean and friendly environment in a beautiful setting.
Perfect B&B

The innkeepers Debbie and Rich reflect in advance what their guests could want in the future. The result is an exceptional quality of the guest room and the whole house in terms of comfort and furnishings. The breakfast menu and preparation is outstanding. And besides all this, Debbie and Rich are extremely friendly and helpful. We never had a B&B experience like this before.

There isn't one thing they haven't thought of to make their guests feel pampered and special. The meal was excellent. Would we recommend High Pointe Inn to others? Yes! Would we return? We had never stayed at a B&B before but when PBS was hosting their yearly auction my husband was intrigued by this Inn and bid on it. We won the bid and had an absolutely fabulous stay. We stayed 2 nights and had been to the Cape all our lives, but this was the best stay ever. Debbie & Rich welcome you into their beautiful home like you are family. This has got to be the best place to stay and still be close enough to activities. The best of both worlds. Walk Barefoot On The Carpet Clean

Debbie and Rich were terriffic hosts. They thought of everything. The breakfasts were excellent, their recommondations for restaurants and area attractions were great. I travel a lot and stay in a lot of hotels for business. When it came time for a vacation, I really wanted to stay some place that I knew was walk-barefoot-on-the-carpet clean so that my husband and I could relax and feel at home. The High Point Inn was immaculate! We really enjoyed our stay.
Where to Stay Cape Cod
, December 01, 2005
The Discerning Traveler
This three-room bed and breakfast, open since April 2004, is located just off Route 6A in West Barnstable. The blue clapboard, well-landscaped home is owned by Debbie and Rich Howard who formerly owned a bed and breakfast in North Conway, New Hampshire.
Seeing the view out the glass doors of the living room onto the Great Salt Marsh conservation land and in the distance the sand dunes of Sandy Neck Beach and Cape Cod Bay convinced them that this was the home for them.
It has a new crisp contemporary feel with large rooms and high ceilings. There are two common areas for guests and an exercise roomwith a treadmill, free weights and stability ball. Our favorite place to relax is the living room with a gas fireplace and sofas set to takein the view. Guests tend to gather here or on the deck which runs the length of the house.
The three rooms are each extraordinarily spacious, about 16 x 24 feet. All have queen-size pencil post canopy beds, CD players, andceiling fans. We stayed in the Sand Dollar Room on the first floor, the prime room as it has a cathedral ceiling, wood-burning fireplace, and a private deck. Theother two rooms are on the second floor. Sea Dream has a dramaticfeel with persimmon colored walls and coverlet. The desk is set inthe dormer window which has a prime view. Moonglow Room is good for a third person as it has a daybed and two reclining chairs.
Rich, who studied at the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, prepares a superb breakfast very attractively served with a daily choice of about five hot dishes. Guests dine in the candlelit dining room at one table or in nice weather sit on the terrace. The day we stayed one of us had an egg white omelet with lots of veggies and cheese and the other had Belgian waffles with a choice of bacon or sausage. A hot towel at the end of breakfast was a nice touch.
Other thoughtful amenities include beach chairs and umbrellas, afternoon refreshments and cordials after dinner.
