Land’s End Inn is a tranquil bed and breakfast retreat offering accommodations that are unsurpassed in Provincetown. The Inn’s particular mix of nature, luxury and art, its landmark architecture, opulent views and gracious innkeepers encouraged the New York Times to recognize Land’s End as “a lavishly decorated outpost atop the West End with extravagant views and gorgeous grounds.”
Since 1904, the Inn’s décor has artfully melded with its turn of the century architecture and natural Cape Cod habitat. The Inn was originally a summer "bungalow" for Charles Higgins, a Boston merchant. It still houses part of Higgins' collection of oriental wood carvings and stained glass.
Guests relax in estate-like grounds. New England stone walls and custom lighting wend a serene walkway through the luxuriant natural landscaping, specimen plantings and manicured lawns that surround groups of chaise lounges and Adirondack chairs.
A spacious veranda with classic wicker furniture offers panoramic views of the town and harbor. And when the seasons cool, a fire in the colossal stone fireplace fills the Inn with romance.
A museum-quality collection enhances the solarium, living room, and sixteen guest rooms and suites. Our guests enjoy paintings by Henry Hensche, Mark Meunier, Paul Schulenburg; art nouveau prints and etchings; seventeenth and eighteenth century Asian woodcarvings; nineteenth century African masks; Favrile and art glass; and exotic antique furnishings, some of which are original to the house.
Combining historic elegance with modern appointments such as individually controlled air-conditioning and heat, the guestrooms are memorable. Three towers house exquisitely furnished round rooms; one suite includes an interior circular staircase and balcony; and most rooms have a private balcony, deck or patio.
Add to all this, beach access by a private stairway, off-street parking, and a leisurely stroll to shops, restaurants, galleries, and nightclubs. One can understand how a vacation at Land’s End Inn satisfies even the most discerning traveler.
