Jobi Pottery is a Cape Cod cottage industry that began in 1953 in a small summer shack located near the Cape Cod Highland Lighthouse in Truro.
The unique "retro" forms and designs were created by the original owners, Joe Colliano and Bill Hastings ("Jo-bi"). All pieces were hand crafted and painted free hand, without templates or drawings.
Today Jobi Pottery is a thriving "cottage industry" still located in Truro, owned and operated by Susan Kurtzman, who bought the business in 2004. The original molds and designs created by the Jobis in the 1950s are still used to create the pottery, and new designs and colors have been added with the same mid-century look. All pieces are individually made and hand painted freehand, as they were over fifty years ago. The studio is open to visitors who can watch the pottery being made.
At the same location is the Truro Fine Art Studio, featuring mid-century and contemporary paintings, drawing, and mixed media. Exhibitions change throughout the summer season, see the website or calendar listings for more information.
