Sandwich, Cape Cod

While the rest of the world may know Sandwich, Massachusetts for its distinctive glassware that was produced in the 1800s, its most enduring legacy is as the oldest town on Cape Cod, established in 1639. True to its heritage, Sandwich offers up a rich taste of the region’s history, from the 17th century Hoxie House to the 1654 mill that still grinds corn at the edge of tranquil Shawme Pond.

Daniel Webster liked to hunt and fish here in Colonial times: an era that lives on at the historic inn that took his name and along the quaint byways, dotted with antique shops, of the surrounding town center. Beach-goers will enjoy the dune-laced shoreline along Cape Cod Bay.
